Wayne is the SLVC Wave Club Coordinator and has been coaching consecutively for the last 19 years, doing multiple teams a season and every age group from 13U to 18U. Wayne has coached 9 years at HJ Cody High School; JV/SR Girls from 2001 to 2003, SR Boys 2013-2015 and JV Girls in 2016, 2017 & 2018.
Wayne has been coaching beach volleyball for the last 13 years and was the Zone 4 coach at four Alberta Summer Games. Wayne started coaching in Fort McMurray in 1991 with grade five and six boys volleyball.
Wayne's philosophy is to create strong individuals who believe in themselves, and to give players an opportunity to achieve individual success which will translate into a positive team experience in victory or defeat. Wayne believes this can be achieved through hard work, patience, communication, respect, setting goals and enjoying the moment.
Rick brings with him 12 years of coaching background at competitive junior high, high school and club programs. He has been involved in various club ages from 15U - 18U.
Rick played competitively in junior high and high school, competing in two provincial championships. He also was a member of the Olds College Broncos. Following college Rick played in various adult leagues in Calgary until moving back to Central Alberta where, for the past 18 years, he has called home.
His coaching philosophies are strong in accountability, responsibility, competitiveness and the importance of enjoying the game we love!
"I love vball. I love playing vball. I love coaching vball. I have played for almost 38 years, still play, and plan to keep on playing for another 20 years. I have coached 5 seasons of 14U SLVC with my husband Travis and I am looking forward to another exciting season!"
Travis is starting his 6th season as a 14U SLVC coach. He was a multi-sport athlete, with football and baseball being his true passions. His greatest asset as a coach is the ability to break down mechanics and teach proper techniques.
Jordan is currently coaching the JV Boys at Olds High School; and has been coaching youth sports since 2010 in volleyball, baseball, softball and hockey. He is a former full scholarship university athlete and u18 national member – in baseball not volleyball – and believes that all of his different experiences as both player and coach have combined to inform his coaching philosophy. He has an equal amount of experience coaching girls and boys; and has coached from Novice up to u16 age groups.
Jordan believes in an up tempo and deliberate approach to volleyball in practice and games; and that teams perform best and enjoy the sport the most when players get consistent and real time feedback and feel that every member is a contributor to the success of a whole. He encourages his teams to embrace a culture of “joyful intensity” and points to his father who was recently inducted into the Alberta Schools Athletic Association Hall of Fame for coaching girls and boys varsity volleyball as a mentor.
Off the court, Cleland has a Master’s degree in Leadership, and formerly supervised the ACAC Broncos’ Athletic Director when he was a Vice President at Olds College. He currently has his own consulting practice where we works for clients across the country in fund development, communications, marketing, government relations and leadership coaching.

• Athletes approach things with tempo, hustle and purpose in practice and games.
• We play for fun, but that does not preclude a focus on skill development and maximum performance.
• Coaches are organized with practice and game plans BEFORE getting to the gym.
